While anyone else would have been better off studying MBA, I decided to specialize in a subject not many people would be interested in pursuing. And, by so doing, I wanted to earn qualification as a Master trainer who could explain complex subjects in digestible, easy to understand bits of information.

I did this so that my clients wouldn’t have to go through what I had to do learn everyhing from scratch.

The second thing I did was to buy up all kinds of product licenses to existing products in my industry. I went after the high-end products because I knew these would limit the minimum sale prices among those who held the same licenses.

While most sold products “as is” to their subscriber lists, I tweaked, added, bundled up and built additional value, primarily by turning them into physical products.

All of the sudden, while my competitors were all competing each other to sell their products at the minimum prices, I was able to sell my products at higher price or include as part of my other consulting packages. Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t just turn digital products into low quality CD-ROMs, but I added manuals, DVDs, teleseminars and coaching to name a few (I will tell you more about this).

In fact, delivering quality physical products are not easy as people think. There are a lot of details that go into making sure that the design, transaction, shopping cart, backend and affiliate program – all the components must be set up correctly. It’s a daunting task that would take months of trials and errors and I can’t imagine anyone wanting to go through learning all the details.

Then, finally, I added my own piece of component to the mix. I added consulting, coaching, and audio and video files that showed others how to do what I did. I wrote the copy myself and looked for people interested in my information. To my surprise, there were many people looking for someone to show them exactly how to set up a real, sustainable business online.

To tell you the truth, there were nights I would stay up late just to watch infomercials on TV, I kept copies of magazine and mail advertisements, swiped hundreds of successful ads and squeeze page ad copies that helped me realize what I was missing.
